Quite literally. Juxtaposition is a term used in the design world when two or more contrasting things are placed together in such a way that they actually compliment one another, yet you know they shouldn’t. A good example of this is placing an old piece of decor with a modern sculpture, or placing dark colored furniture in a light color schemed room, or having retro chic accessories in a traditionally furnished space. Basically, anything that resembles design from decades ago and pairing it with lovely modern day components. I love this look…love juxtaposed exhibits and vignettes and collections of old and new. It’s classical and authentic and fashionable and voguish. Just take a few secs to mull over these awesome juxtaposed rooms…
See what I mean? So. Cool.
