Spending time at the lake recently has me dreaming of my future boat dock! I love that it’s an extension of our house…a space we can lounge and relax and entertain with friends and family. My goal is to achieve a natural look with teak and rattan and beautiful wood slabs with pops of blue in the pillows and throws. I love the idea of hammocks and rattan swings, chaise lounge chairs and intricate umbrellas (for the top deck), teak coffee tables and garden seats, casual pillows and soft throws…you get the drift. Can’t wait to share pics when it actually gets started! A lil’ inspo in the meantime…
I vividly remember being a little girl in a room full of yellow…a yellow desk, a yellow dresser with an adorning hutch attached, a yellow bed frame, yellow walls and yellow flowered bedding and the only thing that really changed as I morphed into a teenager was the rock and roll posters taped to my walls…Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, and Poison (of course.) Re-arranging the furniture and re-styling all of my knick-knacks was a weekly affair…seriously. Sometimes more than that! I was somewhat obsessed with styling things…if I wasn’t styling my room I was most definitely re-styling the living room and family room of my modest childhood home. I was the kid that enjoyed cleaning! Because it gave me the opportunity to re-arrange my parents decor…my mom did not mind. And I took great pride in my work:)
I was also a little girl who loved pretending to be a mom. I had two favorite baby dolls; Allison and Brian. I mean…these baby dolls even traveled with me! I spent hours as a young girl playing mom. I would do what every good mom does; I’d feed the baby, change the baby, lay the baby down for naps, play with the baby and take walks with the baby. I was a good pretend mom!
Not much has changed well into my adult life. These two passions remain the same. My love for interior design and styling is still strong…it still takes my breath away when I see a design I adore or when I create a design I adore. And boy…do I love being a mom to my two boys! This job has certainly taken my breath away in many moments and given me joy and pride like no other.
I recently read a book that resonated with me…that what brings you joy is love. Joy. Is. Love. Interior design and my boys bring me tremendous joy…now I want you go do whatever it is that brings you joy:) Find your passion. Follow your passion. Do what you love!
This is a picture of my boys and I from a recent trip to Aruba.

I just love when my client’s are as happy as I am with their selections…quartz countertops, glass mosaic backsplash, patterned carpet, new sofa and signature chair and console table and coffee table…a fresh coat of paint…orb chandelier and just like that their space is updated! It’s exciting to see the design evolve from our original vision to selections to execution! Here’s a sneak peek…
Classic and stylish!
Yours in design,
Paint can solve almost any design dilemma! And guess what? It is the most cost effective way to do it! My wonderful new client and I were discussing this very topic today…paint is great! Want new hardwood floors but not in the budget for replacing them? Stain them! Want updated stair railings but not in the budget for new ones? Paint them! Want new white cabinets in lieu of the old oak ones? Paint them! Want to change the look of your master bedroom, or living room or office? Paint them! The many wonderful ways you can untilize paint is endless…
Paint is dramatic and chic and cool and refreshing and calming and sassy and cheerful and bold…right?
Create your dream house with paint!
Yours in design,
Kitchen remodels are all the rage these days and the options are endless in terms of countertops…think natural stone like granite and marble, quartzite and slate and uncommonly limestone…or engineered stone and quartz and pre-cast concrete. Granite and marble have long been the favorite among all the natural stones but quartz is making huge strides in popularity for its stain, scratch, and heat resistance and low cost maintenance. This affordable option can be designed to look like marble at the fraction of the cost…a win win for consumers. Stones, such as granite and marble and quartzite certainly have thier own unique qualities and appeal and are still highly popular…think natural movement in the veins…
Although slate is not as popular for kitchen countertops, the material is actually great for those who are looking for gray tones and rich blue and black hues. This material is strong and durable…an alternative to granite or limestone.
Either stone you choose is a personal preference. Educate yourself about the pros and cons of the various beautiful stones and go with what you love!
Yours in design,
I know I write a lot about my beloved blue…(because this pretty pigment looks good any where!) but today I thought I would pay tribute to glorious gray. Some designers may say that gray is moving on but I believe it is here to stay for awhile. We started to see tons of gray in kitchens a couple years back and it’s evolved to our bathrooms and master bedrooms and nurseries and great rooms. Gray is the intermediate color between black and white…it is an achromatic color or neutral color and literally means “without color”. While this tone is most commonly associated with boredom, conformity, indifference and modesty…it has proven to look pretty darn good and sophisticated in a variety of beautiful tones. I love it on the walls, on the ceiling, on the floor, on cabinets…I love blue-gray, I love white with a little gray, I love gray with a bit of green…it’s all good…and so versatile. Dont’ you agree?
And gray with gold detailing just makes my heart skip a beat:)
The various tones make this so called boring color interesting and exciting.

Because a huge trend this year is defining your “fifth wall”…be it paint, temp paper, wallpaper, exposed beams or decorative mouldings…it’s the area of a room that we don’t want to ignore. It’s striking and bold and chic and beautiful…
And like any accent wall, it brings such an interesting dimension…definitely a conversation starter! It can be rustic or glamourous or sophisticated or industrial…
But no matter what your style, you are certain to impress your friends:) Here’s a few more pics for insipiration…
There’s just so many creative options! What’s yours?
